I thought the Cadets deserved their win. I found it refreshing that the corps with the drums up front playing their butts off won, tying the all-time high DCI score. Their snares and tenors sounded great. Hopefully, there will be more emphasis on the playing, and less on the color guard theatrical components of the shows in the future. While those help bring in the average person, and get it televised, it is after all called "Drum Corps".

just so you all know, they didnt show the entire performance of each group, including the corps I was in this summer, I would highly suggest checking out the DVD at dci.org, they have drum cams and all, its pretty intense

yeah, it was cool. i ended up taping most of it. on a side note, wasn't it cool / weird seeing ads for ziljian, pearl, yamaha, etc. on television? thanks again for the heads up on this program. it really opened my eyes and mind to what these guys are really capable of. new respect for 'bando's'
of course the quads / snare drum line were incredible but how about the pit band as well? the vibes/ marimbas / horns.... holy cows!
the quads from the cadets doing their solo in front of the judge gets xtra ups from me. they were inhuman.

I can vouch for the Cadets from someone who's been there and done it. I was there in person in Boston and they were one of the best drumlines, and corps, that I've ever seen. Those guys played some serious notes.
For those who haven't ever seen a DCI drumline up close live you HAVE to check it out sometime. I didn't see the broadcast but I can tell you video only really captures about 30% of the live experience.

Bows to Derek, as well as respectfully asking his permission to shine his boots...
Awesome, DD!!! Did you ever tape any of your performances while doing Drum Corps?
